Stay informed with the latest Australia immigration news. Several important changes from the Department of Home Affairs take effect from 1 July 2025, including updates to visa application charges, citizenship fees, tribunal and court costs.
Visa Application Charge (VAC) Increases
Effective 1 July 2025, most Visa Application Charges (VACs) have increased by 3.00%, aligned with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and rounded to the nearest $5.
🔺 Key VAC Updates:
- Subclass 500 – Student Visa: from $1,600 to $2,000
- Subclass 820 – Partner Visa: from $9,095 to $9,365
- Subclass 485 – Temporary Graduate Visa: from $2,235 to $2,300
- Subclass 482 – Skills in Demand Visa: from $3,115 to $3,210
- Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa: from $4,765 to $4,910

Citizenship Application Fee Changes
Citizenship application fees have also increased in line with CPI for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2025.
Updated Fees:
- Citizenship by Conferral (General Eligibility): from $560 to $575
- Citizenship by Descent (Single Application): from $360 to $370
- Evidence of Australian Citizenship: from $275 to $280

Tribunal and Court Fee Increases
Administrative Review Tribunal (ART)
From 1 July 2025:
- Migration decision review (Part 5): $3,580 (up from $3,496)
- Protection visa review (Part 7): $2,203 (up from $2,151)
(Generally payable only if the application is unsuccessful)
Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
From 1 July 2025:
- Full filing fee for migration applications: $4,015 (up from $3,920)
