Form 1300t – Apply for Australian Citizenship by Conferral

If you’re ready to become an Australian citizen, Form 1300t is the application form you’ll need. This form is for individuals applying for citizenship by conferral—the most common pathway for migrants who have met all residency and character requirements.

Whether you’re a permanent resident, a former citizen returning to Australia, or a New Zealand citizen meeting eligibility rules, this form is your official starting point.

What Is Form 1300t?

Form 1300t, officially known as the Application for Australian Citizenship – General Eligibility, is used by adult applicants (18 to 59 years old) who wish to apply for Australian citizenship by conferral.

Instead of filling out a paper version, you are now encouraged to apply online through your ImmiAccount, although the form name is still referenced in Departmental guidelines.

Who Should Use the form?

You should complete Form 1300t if you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Hold permanent residency or are a New Zealand citizen eligible under the special criteria
  • Have lived in Australia for at least 4 years (including 12 months as a permanent resident)
  • Meet the character requirements
  • Intend to reside in Australia or maintain a close and continuing association

Note: Children under 16 should be included in a parent’s application and do not need to fill out Form 1300t separately.

How to Complete Form 1300t Online

To apply using Form 1300t:

  1. Create or log in to your ImmiAccount at the Department of Home Affairs website.
  2. Select “Apply for Citizenship” and choose the “General Eligibility” option.
  3. Complete the questions that reflect the 1300t form content.
  4. Upload your documents (passport, PR grant, ID, police checks).
  5. Pay the application fee (currently $560 for most adults).
  6. Submit and wait for confirmation.

Documents Needed

When applying, you must provide:

  • Valid passport or travel documents
  • Permanent residency grant notice
  • Australian Federal Police (AFP) check
  • Identity documents (driver’s licence, Medicare card)
  • Proof of English language ability (if required)
  • Evidence of residence in Australia (utilities, leases, employment)

Why Is Form 1300t Important?

Completing the form correctly ensures your application moves through the system without unnecessary delays. Mistakes or missing documents can trigger requests for more information (e.g. s56 letters) or result in refusal.
