What is the EA Skills Assessment?

The Engineers Australia (EA) Skills Assessment is a mandatory requirement for engineers who want to migrate to Australia under skilled visa programs such as Subclass 189, 190, or 491. This assessment is required for individuals applying under the following Skilled Occupation List roles:

Eligibility Criteria

1. Qualification Requirements

EA offers four assessment pathways depending on the applicant’s qualifications:

A. Accredited Qualifications Pathway

For applicants with engineering degrees accredited under:
- The Washington Accord (e.g., degrees from the USA, UK, Canada, and other signatory countries).
- The Sydney Accord (for engineering technologists).
- The Dublin Accord (for engineering associates).
Applicants in this category do not need to submit a Competency Demonstration Report (CDR).

B. Non-Accredited Qualifications Pathway

For applicants with engineering degrees NOT accredited under the Washington, Sydney, or Dublin Accords.
Requires submission of a Competency Demonstration Report (CDR).

C. Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) Pathway

For engineers with qualifications not accredited by Engineers Australia.
Requires a detailed CDR, including:
- Three career episodes demonstrating engineering skills.
- A Summary Statement mapping skills to EA’s competency elements.
- A Continuing Professional Development (CPD) statement.

D. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Pathway

For applicants who have gained significant engineering experience but lack formal qualifications.
Requires substantial industry work experience documentation.

2. English Language Requirement

All applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirement by achieving one of the following:

IELTS: Minimum 6.0 in each band (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking).
PTE Academic: Minimum 50 in each section.
TOEFL iBT: Listening 12, Reading 13, Writing 21, Speaking 18.

The EA skills assessment follows a structured process. Applicants must carefully prepare and submit their documents for review.

Choose the Assessment Pathway – Identify whether you qualify under Accredited, Non-Accredited, CDR, or RPL pathways.
